Youth Clubs - AHS Pupils Thursdays

Sunart Centre News - November 2021 update

Sarah’s drop-in ‘Monday Cuppa’ Sessions in the Sunart Centre café area every Monday evening from 5-7pm have been a big success with quite a few people dropping in for a chat and discussing how they would like to see things happen in the centre. These will be continuing throughout November and up to the Christmas and New Year break so please feel free to call in any Monday evening to hear about what’s happening and put forward any ideas you may have.

We are keen to begin our Youth Clubs but Covid restrictions will still not permit us to provide these for primary school children, and opportunities for secondary pupils are limited. We plan to begin YOUTH CLUB for SECONDARY PUPILS on THURSDAY evenings. AHS pupils will be invited to stay on after school on Thursdays to engage in as many of the traditional activities as possible or just relax with friends, and free buses will be provided to Acharacle, Ardgour and Lochaline, leaving the Sunart Centre at 8:00pm sharp. Parents are reminded that as always it is the responsibility of their children to ensure they board these buses – the Sunart Centre and High Life Highland cannot be responsible for any young people who fail to catch their bus home – these children will have to contact their parents to make their own arrangements for getting home or any overnight alternative.

We are hoping that our Gym (Fitness Suite) will be opening soon, albeit with a limited capacity.. Gym slots will be offered as 45 minute sessions to allow for Covid clean down between customers. There are various issues around Covid and the number of machines we will be permitted to have in a limited space that we will be working to resolve  before opening as soon as we can. We will be trialling a new online booking system and we already have several enquiries – if you would like to be kept informed of when the gym will be opening please get in touch.

We also hope to see adult football begin again, probably on Tuesday evenings, and Badminton on Fridays,  and there are plenty of other ideas being put forward that we hope to progress in the near future. Although there are still restrictions on accessing the facilities during school hours, and on evening events that might involve adults and school pupils together, we hope these will continue to be eased over the coming months.
